Integrate any Custom Post Type Related Plugin into BuddyPress

In this tutorial, You will learn an easy way to integrate any custom post type related plugin with BuddyPress.

With BuddyForms You can create a form for any post type. With the BuddyForms Members extension, it's easy to integrate the custom post type form into BuddyPress Member profiles.

If your plugin has his its form fields in the admin edit screen you can add those form fields to your BuddyForms form via the form builder.

This way you can collect information needed by other plugins with BuddyForms and bring the post management (creation/editing) into the member's profile.

For this we need the following plugins to be installed:

BuddyPress

BuddyForms

BuddyForms Members

Finding the Necessary Info for Plugin Form

Depending on the plugin we want to integrate with BuddyPress, we need to find the plugin specific post type and the needed fields and taxonomies the plugin uses.

Please read the following Documentation

Locate the Post Meta needed by other Plugins to use the Custom Fields in the Front-end Form

Find the Post Type

Find the Taxonomy

If your plugin has a special field type which is not supported by default from BuddyForms you can create a new form element. Please follow-up here:  How to create a new form element type

If the plugin you use is interesting for others you can ask us to build an extension to support your plugin or create a new extension on your own. Please check if an extension for your plugin is already available on  WordPress.org
