Add options from an external resource to the dropdown form element

If you want to add many options to a dropdown( select ) form element, we recommend to use a custom taxonomy instead of the dropdown form element.

With taxonomies you have a great interface to manage your terms. Just use the taxonomy form element to display the dropdown of terms in the form instead of the dropdown form element.

The dropdown form element is build for a hand full of options not several hundreds.

If you do not want to use a taxonomy and want to add a bulk of entries to the dropdown form element you can do so via php.
